TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
Dear Stakeholder
Please be advised that last night, 26 July 2023, we had a fire which gutted part of our hazardous waste and liquid treatment plant at our facility located at 16 Vuurslag Avenue, Spartan, Kempton Park.
The exact cause of the explosion needs to be investigated and a root cause determined.
Until such time as the investigation has been completed, I will not speculate on what the possible causes may be. Thankfully, there were no injuries on our site.
There has been extensive damage to the facility which will require assessment and reconstruction. There was no damage to the Spartan offices and the entire administrative and support functions continue to be fully operational.
Our collections and logistics activity are unaffected, and all other services will continue to function as normal.
As a responsible ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 accredited company committed to health, safety and the environment, we will fully co-operate with the authorities in concluding the investigation and findings.
The situation was contained by the fire department and the spillages are being addressed in conjunction with our spill response partners. We have had all the relevant departments on site conducting assessments.
There are no present risks to the public or any clients. Any negative impacts on the environment will be rehabilitated in accordance with the responsible authorities.
The Spartan staff conducted themselves according to the evacuation procedures and this served to prevent any injuries or health issues. Our leadership team thanks go out to them.
Kind Regards,
