We are proud to have partnered with Nespresso on their Nespresso capsule recycling project.
All Nespresso capsules are fully recyclable at Oricol’s recycling facility in Johannesburg using a customised packaging separation machine developed by Nespresso in line with its global Ecolaboration standards. This specialised machine is able to separate the aluminium from the spent coffee grounds in the used capsules. Using a mechanical process, the aluminium in used capsules is separated from the coffee grounds and then undergoes a further recycling process at a steal smelter where it is reused to make new aluminium products. The leftover coffee grounds however, are given over to the Bokashi fermentation process which is a globally accepted wet waste composting solution that uses food waste only to serve as nutrient rich soil food.
